(Springfield, IL) — After months of haggling, Illinois lawmakers have a partial spending bill to send to Governor Bruce Rauner. The stopgap budget was approved by the House earlier today and the Senate gave its approval this afternoon. The package of bills will provide money for the state’s basic services through the rest of the fiscal year, as well as additional funds for Chicago schools. The bills mean schools across the state will open on time. Some last-minute budget additions slowed the votes early this afternoon, but the additions were dropped and the Senate began voting by mid-afternoon.
