A pair of harness horses owned in Brownstown swept the $10,000 features at Hawthorne Racecourse in Chicago Thursday evening.
Sis’s Ellie Mae, owned by Jim Rine and Chuck Doehring, got things started by leading every step of the way as the even-money favorite to win the Fox Valley Flan Stakes for two-year-old trotting fillies, before Trixie’s Jethro, racing solely in Doehring’s name, crushed the field by nine lengths as the 1-5 favorite in the Kadabra Stakes for freshman trotting colts.
John David Finn, of Newton, trains both horses, while his son Jared drove both trotters to their respective victories.
