(St. Louis, MO) — George Springer belted the go-ahead home run as the Astros slipped by the Cardinals, 4-1, at in St. Louis. The ‘Stros swept the two-game set. Adam Wainwright tossed seven shutout innings for the Cards, but Kevin Siegrist gave up Springer’s dinger for his second loss. Greg Garcia singled in the only run for St. Louis.

(Washington, DC) — Jayson Werth’s RBI single in the bottom of the 12th gave the Nationals a wild 5-4 win over the Cubs. Washington rallied from one-run deficits in the ninth and 12th to take the rubber match of the three-game set. Anthony Rizzo hit a two-run homer and Ben Zobrist added a solo shot for Chicago. Trevor Cahill was charged with the loss. The Cubs begin a three-game home series with Pittsburgh tomorrow afternoon.
