(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner today assured a friendly audience at the Illinois Chamber of Commerce annual luncheon that he won’t back down on the business-friendly reforms he’s been demanding as part of a budget deal. After a standing ovation, Rauner told the group that the reforms he’s seeking will lead to more jobs and a stronger economy, even though critics say they are anti-union and will hurt the middle-class people who rely on those union wages. Rauner and the GOP legislative leaders also called again for passage of their versions of stopgap funding bills that would make sure schools open on time. Democrats are working on their own stopgap budget bills.
