After discussion last month on moving forward with the application for an Enterprise Zone in the county, the Fayette County Board Tuesday night approved two ordinances pertaining to the matter. The current Enterprise Zone, established with the City of Vandalia/Fayette County in 1988, does not expire until the end of 2018, but the application and proper paperwork needs to be submitted to meet deadlines in the process of reapplication. With an 11-0 vote, the county board approved a motion establishing unincorporated area within Fayette County as an Enterprise Zone. The board then also unanimously approved an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Vandalia, City of St. Elmo, Village of Brownstown and Village of Ramsey for the application of the enterprise zone.
