(Chicago, IL) — The State Board of Elections is giving the thumbs up to a plan that would change how legislative maps are drawn in Illinois. The move means the proposal is one step closer to appearing on the November ballot. Voters would then decide if an independent commission should be in charge of drawing political boundaries. The measure still needs to survive a court challenge over whether it’s constitutional.
