A 32-year old Nokomis man plead not guilty in Fayette County Court Tuesday to charges stemming from a May 15th home invasion in Ramsey. Christopher L. Scholes appeared in court and waived a preliminary hearing and formal arraignment in the matter and entered a plea of not guilty. Scholes is charged with one count of home invasion, a Class X Felony, after he allegedly entered a residence on May 15th and struck one of the homeowners in the face with a closed fist. Scholes is also facing a charge of aggravated battery, a Class 3 Felony, and one count of criminal trespass to property, a Class 4 Felony. Scholes is also facing a fourth charge, endangering the life or health of a child, as he allegedly left a 4-year old child standing on the front porch of the home while he entered the residence. A pre-trial in the matter is now set for July 12 at 10am. Scholes remains in Fayette County Jail on $250,000 bond.
