The Vandalia City Council took action on several bids at Monday night’s first meeting of the month. The council approved the low bid from Sheldon Schulte Construction of Vandalia for $44,730 for the replacement of 8,520 square foot of sidewalks in the city. The council also accepted the high bods for public property items the city had put out for public auction. Also during the meeting, council members approved the authorization to seek bids to tear down the residence at the corner of 4th and Jefferson Streets in Vandalia.
In other business, the closure of 6th Street from Gallatin to the railroad tracks was approved for Saturday, June 11th as the 6th Street Pub will be hosting an event. An ordinance amending the Vandalia Municipal Code was approved. The change will remove one liquor license for a restaurant following the closing of the Copper Penny last month.
