(Undated) — Some Illinois prisons could lose their water and sewer services soon if the state doesn’t pay its bills. Since legislators still haven’t agreed on a budget, several vendors to state prisons aren’t getting paid. City officials in Pinckneyville say they can only maintain services at their prison for another three months unless they get the over 700-thousand-dollars the state already owes them. This problem is also an issue for the City of Vandalia, where the state of Illinois owes better than 500 thousand dollars in past due water and sewer bills.
