(Undated) — Four Illinois cities are being criticized by a British publication for allegedly cheating on tests for lead in water. “The Guardian” lists Chicago, Aurora, Rockford and Galesburg for “pre-flushing” water pipes before testing for lead content, and other methods of unfairly reducing lead content for the benefit of a better test score. The report says at least 33 U.S. cities cheated.
