(Springfield, IL) — Schools in Illinois, on average, can last ’til Christmas break without a state budget. A new survey from the state’s Association of School Administrators says school districts across Illinois have an average of five months of operating cash on hand. The administrators say schools are looking at the real possibility of spending every dollar they have in reserves this year.
