No budget deal was reached by the midnight deadline, so lawmakers will work on another temporary fix. The end of the session has now come and gone and the Governor’s office has suggested a stopgap spending plan to keep schools open, fund vital services and get the state thru the end of the calendar year. House Speaker Michael Madigan says they will look at the proposal.
The Governor’s proposal does not include his turnaround agenda or any new taxes.
