(Chicago, IL) — The Illinois Supreme Court has agreed to review a case that could change the way hospitals are taxed. A state appellate court ruled in January that the state law allowing hospitals to avoid millions of dollars in income and property taxes is unconstitutional. The case involves Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, but a Supreme Court ruling that upholds the appellate court would likely apply to all hospitals throughout the state.
