Another day and another closure on Interstate 70 on Wednesday. Eastbound I-70 was closed starting at the Brownstown exit again on Wednesday, to the St. Elmo exit, for work on the shoulder area thru there. The closure went on for better than 6 hours and led to traffic backups that extended all the way into Vandalia, as traffic was being re-routed onto U.S. Route 40. This was the second day in a row the interstate was closed due to the shoulder repairs and it was the 3rd day overall with an interstate closure in Fayette County, as the interstate was closed on Monday evening and into the night due to an accident. No word if the repairs will need to continue today.
