(St. Louis, MO) — Chris Herrmann homered and drove in three as the Arizona Diamondbacks powered past the St. Louis Cardinals, 11-7, at Busch Stadium. The D’backs offense cranked out 15 hits and had six hitters with two knocks apiece. Patrick Corbin improved to 2-and-3 after pitching into the seventh inning. Corbin allowed two runs on four hits while striking out seven. Jake Barrett earned the final out to notch his first career save. Carlos Martinez allowed four runs in five innings and has lost his last four starts after winning the first four. Aledmys Diaz had two hits and two RBIs for the Cardinals.
(San Francisco, CA) — Kris Bryant drove in four runs, including a three-run jack in the second to help the Cubs crush the Giants, 8-1, at AT&T Park. Ben Zobrist and Jorge Soler each went deep as well for Chicago. Jake Arrieta continued his dominance on the hill, tossing seven innings of one-run ball to improve to 8-and-0 this season. San Francisco’s lone run came in the third on an RBI-single from Joe Panik. Jake Peavy couldn’t make it through the second as the Giants saw their eight game win streak come to an end.
