(Springfield, IL) — State Lawmakers are considering the idea of generating more revenue with sugary drinks. A bipartisan group of legislators have proposed a penny-per-ounce tax on the distributors of sodas and other sweetened beverages. Officials believe the new tax would raise up to 600-million dollars.
