For the second year in a row, the Brownstown-St. Elmo girls track team earned major hardware at the IESA Class A State Track Meet. After a 3rd place finish last year as 7th graders, the BSE 8th grade track team earned fourth place honors at this year’s meet. On Friday, Claire Wilhour became a back-to-back 400m Dash Champion with teammate Cassidy Moss not far behind with a 5th Place finish to give the team 14 points after day one on Friday. After claiming the top two times in both the prelims and semis of the 100m Hurdles on Friday, the pair claimed two more medals on Saturday morning with Moss taking 2nd place and Wilhour 3rd Place in the event Finals. With their team total standing at 28 points on Saturday, BSE earned the 4th place State trophy just three-fourths of a point behind third place Lewistown Central.
On the boy’s side of the meet, 7th grader Jace McWhorter brought home a medal as he claimed 4th place in the high jump with a leap of 5’ 2”. McWhorter was also a semifinalist in the 110m Hurdles.
