Strong storms rolled thru Fayette County on Saturday evening, bringing some very strong winds and leading to some downed trees and damage in some areas of the county. The storms rolled thru on Saturday evening, prompting a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the entire county for about a 45 minute time period. The strong storms brought some heavy rains and a little lightning, but the biggest issue was wind gusts of better than 70 miles per hour. There were reports of trees down in some areas of the county and some causing property damage. Vandalia Police Chief Jeff Ray says they had limbs down, there were a few power line fires and there was also a report of a tree that fell on Shelly Drive and skimmed the back wall of a home, but there was no minor damage.
