The State Senate is voting to send a little more money to Illinois colleges and universities. Senators on Thursday passed a bill providing 454 million dollars in funding for higher education and college MAP grants. That’s on top of the 600 million dollars recently approved says State Senator Dale Righter.
If the House also approves the measure, this will bring colleges up to 60 percent of this year’s state funding. Lawmakers are making the money available by not paying back special funds that were borrowed last year.
