(Springfield, IL) — Illinois lawmakers are discussing a bill that would eliminate the office of lieutenant governor. State Representative David McSweeney introduced a measure he believes would save the state one-point-six-million dollars. The legislation has been approved in committee. If it’s passed by the General Assembly, the bill would be included on November’s ballot.
