We talk again today with Vandalia Superintendent of Schools Rich Well, as he promotes a new proposal in the Illinois General Assembly that would help end the funding issues between wealthy and poorer school districts in the State of Illinois. Well says the wealthier districts, or the “property wealth” districts don’t understand the issues that other school districts face when their state funding is pro-rated each year.
The Bill, Senate Bill 231, would help to balance the funding and bring more funding to poorer districts in the state of Illinois and throughout this area. Well says it could bring up to one million more dollars to the Vandalia School District. Senate Bill 231 is sponsored by State Senator Andy Manar.
