(Washington, DC) — U.S. Senator Mark Kirk from Illinois is the first Republican to meet with Merrick Garland since President Obama nominated him for the Supreme Court. The pair chatted yesterday inside Capitol Hill. The president chose Garland as a possible replacement for the late Justice Antonin Scalia. Most Senate Republicans are delaying a vote, saying a nomination should be made following the upcoming presidential election.
