The number of cases of tuberculosis in Illinois rose last year. 344 T-B infections were reported in 2015, the first increase in a decade. State Department of Public Health Spokesperson Melaney Arnold says they want the public to know the symptoms of T-B to help slow the spread of the disease.
Arnold stresses the importance of T-B patients strictly following the six to 12 month long drug treatment regimen, or risk their infection becoming resistant to antibiotics.
