(Springfield, IL) — Governor Rauner is downplaying two high-profile losses in last week’s state primary. Rauner ally and State Representative Ken Dunkin was defeated by Juliana Stratton. A candidate backed by the governor also failed to beat Illinois Senator Sam McCann. Rauner told reporters that he doesn’t view the results as a rejection of his pro-business reforms, noting it’s a mistake to read much into any one election. Rauner did endorse Congressman John Shimkus in his race with State Senator Kyle McCarter, and Shimkus won that primary race, taking about 60 percent of the vote.
