Virginia E. “Ginny” Mabry, 85, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016, at St. Lukes Hospital.

She was born December 01, 1930, in San Augustine, TX, the daughter of Drennon C. & Julia Inez (Nations) Stringer. Married John “Johnny Bob” R. Mabry, December 10, 1949, Vandalia, IL, he passed away October 20, 2012. Along with her husband, they were the former owner/operators of The Village Shoppe, Mobil Gas Station, and originators of Jay’s Barn, all of Vandalia, IL. She was also associated with The Hub Dept. Store in Vandalia, IL. Ginny also was a former member of Soroptimist International, serving as President for 2 years; Charter Board of Directors Vandalia Mainstreet; helped organize: Operation Outing; Friends of Vandalia Library and also the Book Fair, The Little Gallery, and Expresso Art Club; and served on the Executive Board of Vandalia’s 175th. Celebration.
She is survived by: Son – Brad Mabry, Vandalia, IL; Daughter – Rebecca K. Biellier, Vandalia, IL; Brothers – Dr. W.E. “Bill” Stringer & Jeanne, Vandalia, IL and Dr. W.H. “Win” Stringer & Christine, The Villages, FL; Sister – Nell Laswell, San Antonio, TX; Daughter-in-law – Christi Mabry, St. Charles, IL; Grandchildren – Cassie Beesley & Terry, Vandalia, IL; Blake Biellier, Austin, TX; Andrea Deliman & Andy, Geneva, IL; and Jonathan Mabry & Lindsay, Elburn, IL; Great Grandchildren – Tucker, Jonah, Andrew, Austin & Ashton.
Preceded in death by: Parents; Husband; One Son – Curtis Mabry, July 2015; and One Brother, Dr. D.D. “Durwood” Stringer.
