Two Vandals pitchers combined on a no hitter as the Vandals defeated Raymond Lincolnwood, 4 to 1, in the home opener and season opener for the Vandals at Vandalia Mutual Field. Alec Schroeder went the first 5 innings allowing two walks and a run scored on a Vandals error. Richie Well went the final two innings getting one strikeout and allowing one walk—Schroeder picks up the win while Well gets the save. Offensively, the Vandals had just 3 hits on the day. They scored runs on a sac bunt and a wild throw, a suicide squeeze, a wild pitch and a stolen base with a throwing error. Marcus Zimmerman had a hit and a run scored, Nathan Casey had a hit, drew a walk and scored a run and James Taylor had a hit and a run scored as the Vandals improve to 1-0 on the season. They will play at Greenville on Wednesday at 3:30 pm.
