(Chicago, IL) — An Illinois Senate subcommittee is advancing a bill that would mandate counselors be present when a juvenile is being interviewed by law enforcement. The main sponsor of the legislation is Democrat Patricia Van Pelt of Chicago, who was among those who testified on the bill in Chicago on Friday.
