(Undated) — Don’t forget to set the clocks ahead this weekend. Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday so it’s time to “spring forward.” Daylight Saving Time started in the U.S. during World War I to save fuel by lowering the amount of artificial lighting needed. Not everyone will be losing an hour’s sleep. Daylight Saving Time is not observed in Hawaii and most of Arizona.
StandardTime.com says supporters of Daylight Saving Time believe an extra hour of Daylight at night will lead to less accidents. But a study showed that the drop in evening accidents was replaced with an increased number of accidents in the mornings. Now there is a push to end Daylight Saving Time altogether. A petition to end the change states that changing the clocks can be hazardous to your health. The petition is called “Stop spring Forward, Fall Back” and it’s on Petitions.WhiteHouse.gov.
