(Springfield, IL) — Lawmakers in Illinois are considering plans that would allow state workers to be bought out once they retire. A hearing was held yesterday to discuss two proposals. Officials say both would help give retirees more control over their money by taking it out of the state pension system. Legislators hope this would help cut down on Illinois‘ 111-billion-dollars in unfunded pension liabilities.
