(Washington, DC) — U.S. Senator Mark Kirk says President Obama should nominate a replacement for Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and the Senate should consider it. Kirk has been targeted as a vulnerable Republican incumbent and has been criticized by his potential Democratic opponents on the issue. Kirk wrote in a Chicago “Sun-Times” op-ed today that he recognizes the right of the president to choose a nominee and he says it’s his duty as a Senator to grant that nominee a fair hearing then vote to support or oppose the president’s choice.
