(Springfield, IL) — Governor Bruce Rauner is making good on his promise to veto a bill providing funding for grants for college students. Rauner said Senate Bill 2043, which would restore hundreds of millions of dollars in MAP grants, would “explode” the state’s budget deficit and place further strain on social service providers. Rauner in a statement said he supports another piece of legislation he says would appropriate one-point-six-billion dollars for higher education programs.
