(Undated) — Homeowners in Illinois hit hard by the late-2000s recession are getting more federal assistance. According to the “Chicago Sun-Times”, the state will receive 114-million dollars from the Hardest Hit Fund. The feds have already provided 450-million dollars. The cash can be used for things like fixing underwater mortgages, knocking down homes or assisting first-time home-buyers.
