(Springfield, IL) — Democratic lawmakers in Springfield today made a show of delivering a bill to Governor Rauner’s office to fund tuition grants for needy students. Lawmakers brought several college students with them as they walked through the Capitol to Rauner’s office to present the bill along with petitions urging him to sign it. Rauner has said he’ll veto this version of the bill because it contains no revenue source, but lawmakers say tax revenue now coming into the state would cover the grants and would allow these students to continue their college educations.
