There were several accidents on Sunday that happened with snow covered roads that snarled traffic, especially on the interstate, during the day on Sunday. But, none was more of an issue than an accident that occurred on I-57 in Effingham County. The accident was on I-57 southbound, just north of Sigel and occurred at 12:06 pm on Sunday—and the accident included 15 vehicles. Preliminary investigative reports from the Illinois State Police indicate the driver of unit one in the accident, 41 year old Termayne B. Posey of Tennessee, was stopped in the roadway southbound on I-57. The remaining units were traveling southbound and crashed while attempting to avoid Posey’s vehicle. Posey and a passenger were both transported to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. The driver of the 5th unit, 41 year old Carol C. Streater of Glenwood, Illinois and a passenger and the driver of the 6th vehicle, 30 year old Tory E. Nelson of Arkansas and two passengers, were taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham.
