(Springfield, IL) — The non-profit group set up to repair and restore the governor’s mansion says it took in a million-dollars last year in donations. The one-hundred-60-year old house had fallen into disrepair, but the Illinois Executive Mansion Association says the first phase of work to repair the roof is complete, and the second phase of work on the leaky basement, peeling paint and other renovations is about to get under way. The group estimates it will take at least two years to complete all of the work at a cost between eight- and 12-million-dollars.
