(Springfield, IL) — Illinois schools are getting money for repairs. The Illinois State Board of Education is giving the go-ahead to 29 school districts across the state to borrow money at no interest for construction projects. Districts including Danville, Rantoul, Champaign and Urbana will be allowed to use the federal bonding authority to borrow a total of four-hundred-95-million-dollars at little or no interest. The bonding authority comes from a federal program under the Recovery Act that’s designed to allow schools to make needed repairs without taking money from their classrooms.
