Vandalia High School will be represented by seven Vandalia wrestlers at next weekend’s Individual State Tournament after qualifying at today’s Individual Sectional in Carterville.
At 113 pounds, freshman Tanner Swain went 2-1 in the tournament and took 2nd place after his lone loss came in the championship match.
At 120 pounds, senior Chaston Womack went 2-2 with his two losses both coming on injury defaults as he finishes in 4th place. Womack has now qualified for State all four years.
At 126 pounds, sophomore Jarrett Paslay went 2-1, falling in the championship as he takes 2nd place.
At 132 pounds, senior Luke Tessman went 2-2 earning a 4th place finish.
At 138 pounds, sophomore Trevor Philpot went 2-2 in the tournament as he finished in 4th place.
At 195 pounds, senior Bobby Bradley went 2-1, his lone loss coming in the championship match, as he takes 2nd place.
And at 285 pounds, senior Kendrick Woolsey went 3-1 as he claims 3rd place.
The Individual State Tournament will be held Thursday, February 18 – Saturday, February 20 at the State Farm Center on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign. Action will get underway with the preliminaries at 1pm on Thursday.
