(Chicago, IL) — A new poll released by the American Civil Liberties Union is indicating most Illinoisans think the state’s criminal justice system is broken. According to the ACLU, those polled want state lawmakers to fix the system, listing issues such as over-incarceration. Illinois‘ prison population has increased from six-thousand in the mid-1970s to 49-thousand last year, and the ACLU says state prisons are overcrowded.
