A woman who has led the charge to make Olde Tyme Christmas the biggest event of the year in Vandalia and a man who has went above and beyond in helping the youth in the community for decades were honored on Thursday night with Abe Awards at the annual Vandalia Chamber of Commerce Banquet. Vandalia Chamber of Commerce Treasurer Pat Click presented the first Abe Award of the night to Conaway.
And, Conaway thanked those that have helped her put on what has become Vandalia’s signature event.
Rich Well was the second winner of the night, honored for his years of service to the youth in the community—coaching multiple youth leagues teams, helping to create and lead the Field of Dreams and now serves as President, multiple church activities and many others going well beyond his spot as a School Administrator. Well says he knows there is a lot of great things going on throughout Vandalia.
Among those also addressing the gathering last night were Vandalia Mayor Rick Gottman. And, we’ll hear from the Mayor coming up tomorrow during NewsCenter.
