A case against a 26 year old Effingham woman were dismissed this week in Fayette County Court. Judge Michael McHaney found the state had failed to establish probable cause that Kala R. McMain had committed the charges against her, which included Class X Felonies for Manufacture of Methamphetamine and for Possession of Methamphetamine and also a Class 2 Felony for Possession of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Materials. McMain was arrested along with 32 year old Kevin K. Cook of Kinmundy back in January. Both individuals were arrested in Griffith Cemetery in Brownstown on the methamphetamine charges. One issue that was said to be brought up during the preliminary hearing was the distance of McMain from the vehicle at the time of the arrest, which was said to be a factor in the dismissal of charges.
