For the first time since classes started being based on school enrollment size in 1985, Vandalia Jr. High will be represented at an IESA state basketball tournament. The Vandalia 7th grade boys beat Girard North Mac 50-32 in the Greenville 7-3A Sectional to advance to this weekend’s state tournament. The Vandals forced turnovers on North Mac’s first three possessions of the game and took a quick lead that they would hold the remainder of the game. Markus Isaiah led the Vandals with 21 points and 5 steals while Mitchell Casey would finish with 14 points and Drew Thompson would add 1 points. The Vandals are now 19-3 and will face either Pleasant Plains or Williamsville on Saturday at 11:30am in the first round of the state tournament at Wenona Fieldcrest.
