(Springfield, IL) — The number of visits to state historical sites fell seven-percent last year, in part because of the state’s budget woes. The Illinois Historic Preservation Agency reports that while visits to the Lincoln museum and library rose by five percent because of the one-hundred-fiftieth anniversary of Lincoln’s assassination, overall visits to the 29 historic sites fell to just below two-million. Some of those sites had their hours cut because of reductions in state spending
