Name: WILLIAM “Bill” STUCKEMEYER, 91 years old of Altamont, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning January 24, 2016 at 12:05 AM at the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont where he made his residence for the past years.
Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday morning January 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Altamont with the Rev. Bernard M. Ross III officiating.
Visitation for family and friendswill be conducted from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 26, 2016
at the Kull Funeral Chapel, Altamont and again for one hour prior to the funeral services at the church.
Burial Rites will be at the church cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
Bill was born one of nine siblings into the Christian family of Henry and Dorothea Lenz-Stuckemeyer. He began his long life on November 30, 1924 at the family farm Moccasin Township, Effingham County, Illinois. He was baptized, attended the Lutheran school and confirmed his faith at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church where he maintained his life membership. He married Eva Koss in the Zion Lutheran Church, rural Altamont on February 14, 1954 and she preceded him in death on November 26, 2003.
Besides raising a family of five children with his late wife and working on the family farm together they also were employed as custodians at the Altamont Lutheran Interparish School for over 25 years. Bill was a veteran of the United States Army proudly receiving 2-Bronze Battle Stars and a Purple Heart for his battle action in Germany.
