After dropping their first two games of the Effingham Tournament, the Lady Vandals bounced back with a win over host Effingham, 40-32, on Thursday night. After taking a one-point lead to end the first quarter, the Lady Vandals held Effingham to just one basket in the 2nd quarter to lead 19-10 at the half. After holding onto the lead throughout the 3rd quarter, Vandalia withstood a late run by the Lady Hearts including going 6-for-7 at the free throw line in the closing minutes to close out the win. Makayla Tinker led the Lady Vandals in scoring with 16 points while Madelyn Hosick and Leah Francis finished with 8 points apiece and Olivia Marquardt added 7 points. The Lady Vandals are now 14-9 overall and 1-2 in the tournament. They will wrap up tournament play tonight at 6pm when they take on Pana.
