(Chicago, IL) — Republican lawmakers are expected to unveil a plan that would allow Chicago Public Schools to declare bankruptcy. House leader Jim Durkin and Senate leader Christine Radogno are scheduled to lay out the proposal during a news conference today. The measure would put the financially strapped school district under state supervision. CPS officials are threatening layoffs as they deal with a 480-million-dollar budget shortfall.
