(Washington, DC) — Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. President Obama released a statement over the weekend paying homage to the late civil rights leader. The President said Dr. King‘s legacy reflects the belief that citizens under self-government can come together and change the world. Obama called on all Americans to live Dr. King‘s dream by “rejecting bigotry in all its forms” and to rise “above cynicism and the belief that we cannot change.” President Obama reminds all Americans that there is still much to do and accomplish, noting that there are still people who go to bed hungry, attend schools without adequate resources and who lack proper medical care, including children.
