(Palatine, IL) — A transgender student who successfully fought the Palatine high school district for access to the girls’ locker room is getting that access today. Under an agreement that ended a dispute between High School District 211 and the federal government, the student who identifies as a girl will be allowed to change in one of the stalls that were set up inside the girls’ locker room. Today was the last day for the district to comply with the agreement adopted by the school board, which had risked losing millions of dollars in federal funds.
