(Springfield, IL) — A new report says many Illinois school districts are having difficulties filling teaching positions. The Teacher Shortage Survey from the Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools indicates that’s the case with three-fifths of school districts, and nearly three quarters of districts surveyed are seeing a decrease in qualified candidates. The survey says factors include teachers quitting the profession, a lower amount of students enrolled in teacher-training programs, and teachers in other states not willing to relocate.
