(Springfield, IL) — An impasse is allegedly being declared by the Rauner administration in contract talks with the state’s largest public employee union. Officials with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees on Friday said negotiators representing the Illinois governor are no longer talking after a bargaining session finished. A Rauner spokesperson refutes the claim and says it’s AFSCME that’s unwilling to negotiate. AFSCME represents nearly 36-thousand employees in state government.
