(Chicago, IL) — More Illinois high school students are taking Advanced Placement courses, but fewer are scoring well enough on the tests to get college credit. Districts across the state have encouraged more students to take AP courses, and that’s led to about 95-thousand students taking one-hundred-76-thousand AP exams in May. The Chicago “Tribune” reports that 40 percent of those tests were scored below a three, the minimum that most colleges and universities require to grant students credit for the course.
